DOZENS OF PEOPLE from across North Wales joined CAIS and partner Hafal for a day of fun activities at the latest Let's Get Physical! sports day.
The sun shone on Wrexham's Queensway Stadium as competitors got stuck into a range of track and field disciplines, sports, non-competitive games and other events – including penalty shoot-outs, space hopper horse races and tug of war.
Let’s Get Physical! complements the support both organisations offer to people who use their services, and their carers.
As well as trying out some fun activities, participants were also able to access further information, advice and guidance about how they can take small steps towards maintaining good health by eating more healthily, raising their activity levels and having regular health checks.
CAIS chief executive Clive Wolfendale praised the fun and friendly competition on show, and said he was pleased to welcome valued partners from the region.
"Physical activity is an important part of recovery, and an important way of maintaining good health and wellbeing," he said.
"Let's Get Physical! has been great fun and a great way of getting people together on a beautiful day in Wrexham."
Hafal chief executive Alun Thomas presented medals to all participants and thanked event organisers, volunteer marshals and staff teams.
"Let’s Get Physical! is hugely popular because it’s high-energy and lots of fun," he said.
"People can get advice and information on how they can improve their physical health, meet new people and take part in a variety of sports and activities.
"The best thing about the day is that anyone can take part – you don’t need to be an athlete, you just need a have-a-go attitude!”
